I have a Windows 8 HP laptop which I need to work on remotely. I have tried using task scheduler. While the Windows 8 laptop goes to hibernation mode at the scheduled time, it does not wake up. I have followed the instructions on this website
and have also looked at through the answers to the question on stack overflow.
In the log for the task in June, I do see that the task had run the last time as scheduled. Yet the laptop does not wake up.
I have tried configuring both the command to launch a cmd.exe and also VBscript to emulate the SendKeys. I have also configured that task to run whether the user is logged on not and also checked the option to wake of the computers when it runs the task.
What else can I look at in order to figure out why the computer is not waking up?
On a related note, there are some utilities also that claim to simplify the process of waking up in hibernation. However, will these utilities do anything different other than scheduling a task. For example, is the real problem is due to some drivers, then what additional value can be utilities provide?
Thank you for any inputs
